On the line (Private/Mature)

"W-Wait! Whats wrong with her? Why the blood?!" John yelled as he watched Klaus walk into the kitchen. He didn't have time for riddles or games. He wanted one straight answer. Rob had stepped back inside, but only for a moment. "John, we're leaving." he announced, but his words fell of deaf ears. The older Lycan sided and walked out once more. 

Meanwhile, John followed every step Klaus took..literally. The Lycan stayed glued to him like a month to light. He followed him back up stairs and over towards the bed. When he saw that the vampire was about to wipe Katherine down, he grabbed the cloth from him. John still wanted to keep Klaus's fingers as far away from Katherine as possible. The lycan took his place at Katherine's bedside and lightly pressed the cool cloth against her forehead.

It wasn't until then that John realized his brother had left. "Fuck..." John mumbled. He wondered what kind of action Rob would take. If he really wanted to maintain peace, then it made sense to prevent Klaus from freeing his people. If Rob had to put the safety of his pack against John's happiness, he'd pick the need of the pack every single time. "Well..guess we'll just have to see how this plays out..." John thought to himself.

Katherine could barely breath, she felt like the life was being sucked from her body and she could barely get any words out. She could feel the taste of blood dripping down her mouth as her nails dug into the ground, as if she was looking for some type of comfort to try and calm what ever the hell was happening to her.



Klaus blinked as he listened to the lycan but he watched him leave not wanting to say another word to him, he did not need a lycan on his back; not like he could not take care of it but he had already given Katherine his word that no harm would come to her, John, the baby or Rob. “I should hope no one else finds out..” he whispered as he grabbed his beer and chugged the rest of it till he saw John come into the cabin with Katherine, he stared at John for a second before throwing the empty beer bottle into the trash and walking over to Katherine. This was only the second time he had seen this in his life but he did not want to piss John off more than he probably already was. Carefully he cupped her face and began to whisper something to her that sounded like Latin words, when he felt Katherine’s body go limp he picked her up and glanced back at John “She’ll be okay, but she needs rest.” He whispered as he headed upstairs to put Katherine into the guest bedroom. Klaus gave her some of his blood before heading downstairs to talk more to John “You’re more than welcome to stay here, and keep an eye on her for safety measures but I can assure you that I will make sure she’s not harmed, not even by my hands. Actually… why don’t you come upstairs and sit with her for a bit” he muttered softly wondering if John dared to stay beside Katherine’s side through all this. He headed into the kitchen and grabbed a wash cloth, getting it wet with cold water before heading back upstairs to the room Katherine was in to keep her calm and help her feel better.

John slowly turned to face Katherine. He didn't pull away from, but he didn't say much either. He couldn't help how he felt. He couldn't help but question if Katherine was being completely honest with him. When she suddenly collapsed, John gasped and rushed to the ground. "K-Katherine! Whats wrong?" he asked as he rubbed her back. He knew nothing about the health of vampires, but he assumed that coughing up blood was bad.

Meanwhile, Rob boredly listened to the rest of Klaus's proposal. It still didn't make sense. Why would a vampire want to help the Lycans? Rob could only assume that maybe the clans were at war with eachother. "I still fail to see how this involves my pack. Forget the other Lycans..I'm talking specifically about my pack. Right now there is peace. That peace wont be broken unless someone finds out that Katherine is pregnant. It sounds like her father has already taken steps to send her off. Thus, I would assume that he has no intention of spreading Katherine's secret. John wont tell...assuming the child is really his...and I haven't made up my mind yet. Granted, if keeping her secret keeps the peace, I'd have no reason to say anything." Rob stated simply. "I think I've heard enough. I followed John here even though I didn't have to. I'm leaving." Rob announced.

When he got outside, he noticed Katherine kneeling on the ground. "Whats her problem?" Rob frowned. "I-I dont know..she wont stop coughing!" John panicked. Quickly, he scooped Katherine into his arms and carried her inside. Her placed her body gently on the table. "You!" John snarled. "Help her, now!" he roared.

Katherine was surprised but she watched John get up to go get some fresh air. She wondered if he would come to his senses but she knew that maybe it was best to give him some space for the moment, she needed to keep an eye on Rob and Klaus to make sure they were not going to destroy each other in the cabin. Her eyes widened a bit when Rob started to speak like that “Kill me? I have done nothing to you lycan, I said I would cause no harm to those who don’t cause harm to me.” She whispered as she glanced over at Klaus, she was so torn between everyone that she looked like she was ready to give up on everyone and everything she ever believed in. “I want nothing more than the safety of John, and our baby. Now, I’m going outside, when you’re both ready to come to an agreement then you let me know” she whispered as she got off the table and headed outside, shutting the door behind her to only spot John. Maybe they just needed some time together, she slowly approached him. “Please don’t push me away John..” she said softly as she hoped that he would listen, she looked hurt as she stood about a foot away from him. “I’ve been nothing but honest with you John. I really have been honest, I’m not hiding anything if that’s what you’re thinking.” She said, and she spoke the truth as she locked her eyes on his.  “I’m so lost and confused” she whispered as all her emotions came rolling in like a tide and she collapsed to her knees suddenly but something strange happened where she began to cough up blood, her body shook heavily as she gasped for air.



Klaus watched as Katherine left the cabin to talk to John, he tilted his head slightly as he looked back at Rob “Well, John is the father of the baby so Katherine wants him to be there for her and the baby.That’s all she wants, she wants for them to make sure their little one will be safe in a fresher area. Beside’s it’s impossible to kill her, the baby is being protective. Trust me, I’ve tried to kill her. It does not work. Katherine will not only need John’s help to get through all this, but with war so close in this town between our breeds they both will not make it out of here alive without a bit more help.” He muttered softly as he stayed where he was standing, he was not sure if the lycan would be foolish enough to make a move but he did not want to find out just yet.

 “I want my people back. I want my town back. Katherine is the key to opening the tomb. When the tomb is opened, my people will be freed but there will be a war because her parents and Alek are so set against the lycan’s. My people are going to help keep your lycans separate from us vampire’s, but it’s not going to be easy. Which is why I’m asking you to do me a favour and get Katherine out of town while all hell breaks loose, her father wants her gone from town because she’s disgraced the family and blackened the name. I’m trying to keep things at bay Rob, I could use a little help here. Katherine can be killed after the baby is born, you can trick her into thinking John is going with her and send her off on her own but I'm going to have trouble getting her out of town without a fight” He muttered as he spoke the truth to him. He sighed softly and rubbed his forehead “I was thinking of faking Katherine’s death but im not sure how well that will go over” he whispered and groaned getting frustrated.

Both John's and Rob's eyes constantly shifted between Klaus and Rob. There was so much information that the two Lycans didn't know what to believe. John was just a little bit more confused tho. What he did understand was that Katherine had intentionally held back a few key details even tho he had asked her for them. John now rose to his feet as well. "I need some air." he mumbled as he pushed past his brother.

Rob stayed where he was, at least for the moment. "Help me understand something." Rob mumbled as he rubbed the sides of his head. Gods..just what had john gotten himself into. "If your people plan to take over the town...does it not make more sense for me to simply kill Katherine now?" Rob asked as his eyes shifted dangerously over towards pregnant vampire. "You assume that I want John and this...bloodsucker running off together. You assume I'd allow one of the strongest members of my pack to simply waltz off into the night. You assume too much, Klaus." Rob stated with a very dark growl. 

Meanwhile, John stood outside. He needed a little fresh air to clear his head. His body lightly shivered from the frost in the air. There was no way he could trust a word that Klaus said. To make matters worse, he was starting to have a few doubts about Katherine too. All the secrecy between the vampires was starting to piss him off. 

Meanwhile, John remained inside the cabin. He stood perfectly calm and had made no moves to attack either of the vampires...yet. "I fail to see why John is required for this...plan of yours." Rob sighed softly. "Tell me, what is your true objective. There must be more to it than simply freeing a few prisoners. What do you TWO really want?"

Klaus looked at John “You really don’t know who I am… do you..” he whispered as he glanced at Katherine when she came back with a few bags of blood to suck on “Katherine, did you not explain who I am to this..lycan?” he asked. He cut her off with a  wave of his hand “no matter. I have a friend inside that tomb that can help Katherine with the process, he will help. He’s very… nice. Katherine’s blood needs to be smeared on the tomb’s door, and she needs to read out the spell with the heart of a human in her hands. Only then will the door open but once my people are out, there is no way of stopping them from taking over the town. Do you not realize how many vampires are in there?” he muttered softly as he glanced at Katherine; it seemed like things had heated up quite a bit between her and John. “Rob. “ he said as he rose to his feet now, he put down his drink “This could affect your lycan breed like there’s no tomorrow…. I made a deal with Katherine’s father actually..” he said knowing that now Katherine would probably question him.




Katherine glanced at Rob then she looked at John and she locked eyes with him. She needed to get him calmed down, she did not want a fight between them as she knew if that happened then she would make sure that he would never see his child. “John, please calm down” she whispered as she walked over to him and sat down on the table in front of him. “Klaus has talked to my parents, he has gotten them to take Alek off the list for marriage but in exchange Klaus is the one that I have to be engaged to…” she said but she heard Klaus’s word and looked a bit pissed off “You did what?!” she snapped as she looked at Klaus, she was so confused and looked terrified at what he had done. She could not believe him, how dare he!


Klaus looked at Katherine and rolled his eyes “Don’t look so surprised, your father asked me to do him a favour so we came up with a deal” he muttered as he glanced at John “Look, I bought that ring for you to give Katherine later. Though I needed something to give her now so it looks like we are engaged to her parents. So now her parents think we are going to get married, that settles Alek out of the picture because her father is doing a DNA test from what he found in the mansion. When he finds out it’s you that tangled with his daughter, he’s going to come after you and your family and friends. Which is why I’m going to settle an agreement with my friends and family in the tomb to help flatten the table of war. Though, it does not end there just yet. Katherine is to be taken away when we get married; we aren't actually getting married but I’m not going anywhere which is why we need help getting her out of here because once those vampire’s are out of that tomb, I can only get them to agree to so much. Katherine needs to get out of this place safely and she’ll need all the help she can get…. No matter who it’s from” he said hoping that they would all just settle their feathers and come to something they could agree on. “If you’re going to get mad at anyone, it should be me”.


Katherine looked so upset as she stared at Klaus in disbelief, tangled in a web of agreements she shuddered heavily. “you made a deal…with my father…” she whispered, she could barely get the words out and it was clear she had no idea of what Klaus had going on. She was so lost but she knew that if she was going to go through with her words then she needed to know more than that. “How much blood do you need?” she whispered, she hated to ask if and it showed but she could not go further without more knowledge.

Klaus blinked as he thought about it “Most of it. It’ll make you weak and faint, but you’ll recover after a few days of bathing in blood.” He muttered softly, knowing that if he could get his friends from defusing the war between vampires and lycans then that would buy them some time to make sure John and Katherine got out of town.

The Lycans stepped into the cabin without making much conversation. Rob's eyes shifted cautiously around him. He didn't trust Klaus, or Katherine for that matter either. Part of him believed that his younger brother was being manipulated. When John saw Katherine, he gave her a small smile. However, as Klaus started healing him, John spun around and shoved Klaus with every bit of strength he could manage. "Dont touch me." John spat. Rob's eyes shifted between the two boys and then other to Katherine. "We meet again." he whispered while taking his seat. John released a small pained groan as she sat next to Katherine. It took a few minutes, but gradually he noticed the ring hanging from her necklace. It looked a bit too fancy for something to worn from a necklace. The longer John stared at it, the more curious he became.

Rob listened quietly, but intently to what Klaus had to say. His eyes shifted over towards John a few times, but for the most part he kept his eyes glued on Klaus. John took in a deep breath. He didn't want Katherine staying at the cabin. He wanted her close by just in case something went wrong with the baby. "How can we be sure that you even have such an ability? Prove it. Your word means jack shit." John snarled. Rob, who still hadn't said a word, gently tapped his fingers against the table. He had a few opinions, but had yet to voice them. No..for now he simply wanted to observe. He wasn't surprised that john had neglected ask Klaus about the specifics of his operation. The boy seemed to have a one tracked mind.

As John waited for Klaus to respond, he leaned over slightly. His leg, in addition to most of his body, was killing him. Rob glanced over at Katherine. In his opinion, the entire thing was a vampire affair that had nothing to do with Lycans. He couldn't see the release of Klaus's people affecting the balance of power between the Vampires and the Lycans. Still, the entire thing seemed a bit vague to him. "You've sure got it bad John.." Rob muttered. John looked up at his brother with a frown. "What?" he growled. "Oh nothing. I just find it interesting that your getting involved so deeply with these vampires." Rob stated flatly. John turned to face his brother. "We've been over this. I explained everything to you." he growled again. "You did." Rob shrugged. "But did 'she' do the same to you?" Rob asked with a raised brow. John blinked and shifted his gaze back towards Katherine.

The puzzled expression on John's face said it all. Rob slowly shook his head. Damn his idiot brother. "John..." Rob began. "I dont know what these Vampires plan to do with you, but this has nothing to do with us." the Lycan stated as he rose to his feet. "Ask your beloved where that engagement ring came from. I doubt you could afford to give her anything like that." Rob sighed. John's eyes narrowed sharply. He shot a dagger like glare right through Katherine. "Engagement ring huh?" he growled darkly. He would have stood up...if pain wasn't rushing through his body.

A few hours passed by..

“Klaus, this is stupid” Katherine whispered as she sat there in the cabin, staring at him from her spot. “How can we possibly get Rob to agree with us and try to help us?” she muttered softly, she was very concerned on how tonight would turned out with Rob and John. She was glad that she had been invited into the cabin, but she was freaking out on the inside. Though she stopped Klaus in his words when she heard something outside the cabin, she picked up on John and Rob’s words before pointing to the door. “Please, go invite them in.” she whispered.


Klaus stared back at Katherine “You know, once I let them in… they can come and go as they please” he muttered as he walked over to the door and opened it up to see John and Rob standing there. He blinked in surprise to see how bad of shape he was in “Jesus Christ, what the hell..” he muttered as he crossed his arms over his chest “Rob…John Stark, please… come in” he said as he held the door open for them, he closed the door behind them and welcomed them to take a seat in the kitchen with Katherine. “Your boy is beaten up pretty nicely Katherine” he called out to her as he put more wood in the fire place to keep the place warm for the night. “Katherine, did you even bring what I asked you to?” he asked as he walked over to her and sat down across from her. A beer sat on the table near his hands as he sat there.


Katherine blinked when she heard that John was in rough shape, she had a big bottle of wine that she had been gulping down due to her nerves acting out. “I did. But first, you keep your word Klaus…” she said softly as she glanced at John then she watched Klaus pulled John closer and heal as much as he could to ease the pain, and heal the injuries. “Happy?” he asked her as he let go of John. Katherine tilted her head and shrugged “Not really.” She whispered as she glanced at Rob “Please, make yourself at home” she muttered softly as she had put her engagement ring on her necklace that she was wearing. “We have much to discuss” she whispered as she felt ashamed for bringing John down with her, she felt like a rock that had been thrown into the lake and she was bringing her lover down as well.  Katherine glared at Klaus “And no fighting.” She hissed in a warning.




Klaus grinned “Much to discuss indeed, let’s start with our terms… shall we?” he muttered as he made sure that everyone was sitting before he began. “Katherine here, or should I say Katerina… gave me her word that she would help me in any way possible to open something. I have given her my word that I would not harm her, you two and the child. I have also given my word that I will help slow down the process of the child’s progress but in order for me to do that, I need something from Katherine first.” He muttered then he took a drink of the beer he was now holding.

 “You see… there’s a tomb somewhere around this area, it’s hard to find. It’s got my friends and family locked inside of it. I want them out. And Katherine here, well… she’s got the blood and she’s got the book I need. Emily and I made a deal a while back ago, she put a spell on the tomb only for Katherine to reopen and welcome my people back. My people are as they were before they were put there, sadly Emily had been murdered but Katherine here is my lovely key to opening that damn door.” He muttered softly as he locked eyes with Katherine. He leaned back “but not everything is as easy as it seems” he whispered and cleared his throat “John, I’ll have you know that Katherine will be staying here for a while, it’s a lot safer for her to stay here than at her own place” he muttered.


Katherine was very interested in what Klaus had to say, but she was surprised that there was a tomb nearby that had vampire’s locked up. Ho-how many is in there.. she thought as she quickly got up and excused herself to get a few bags of blood from downstairs, she was so thirsty and she did not know why.

Katherine's father remained dead silent for most of the dinner. He was still waiting for the results of hair tests he had taken from the mansion to come back. He didn't want to believe that his daughter, who had already blackened their family name, had gotten mixed up with the wrong people. It became clear to him that there's no way he could allow Katherine to marry Alek. If it turned out that Katherine had fooled around with a human..or god forbid..a Lycan, the incident would completely destroy the family. Alek's father would use his position in the VC(Vampiric Council)to turn the Patrovias into social lepers.  Unlike his wife, Katherine's father was more concerned for their family image and less for the well being of his daughter. He had taken the chance to speak to Klaus privately. The plan was for Klaus to take Katherine away once they were married.

That night, Klaus's marriage proposal came of little surprise to Katherine's father. IT was what they had been planning for the last few days. Her father nodded as Katherine accepted. He wasn't sure why she would, but that hardly concerned him. As long as she did as she was told, there would be no problems...

Meanwhile, John's night had gone completely different. His body was brought down to its knees. The Lycan panted heavily as blood flowed freely down the right side of his face. "Now..you were saying?" Rob asked as he hovered over his brother, his claws stained with the blood of his sibling. As strong as John was, he still no match for his older brother...that and he had no intention on fighting to the death. "Just hear us out." John pleaded. He forced his body to rise once more. Underneath his clothes, John had several dark bruises and slashes. His brother had broken at least five bones. Rob closed his eyes tightly. It was a good thing that John chosen to speak privately. "Do you have any idea what this could mean for our pack? John..have you lost your fucking mind?!" Rob hissed as he slammed his foot right across John's face. The impact from the attack was so hard it sent shockwaves through the forest.

A few painful hours later...
The brothers stood patiently outside the cabin. John had tried to clean himself up a bit, but he still looked like shit. One of his eyes were jet black from being punched. The left side of his cheek was also dark from the kick he had received. He had cuts all over his shoulders and arms. Honestly..it was a miracle that he could still stand. "How much longer?" Rob snarled. John gazed down at his watch. "Not too much longer.." He whispered softly. His brother hadn't made any promises. John had no idea what Rob planned on doing. He only hoped that Katherine's night had gone much smoother than his. "Fuck..it hurts.." John thought to himself. Around his right leg John had been bitten by Rob. The older Lycan had taken a rather large chunk out of John's flesh. Rob had a few bruises as well, but he didn't look anywhere near as bad as John did.

Katherine was glad that they were not fighting, that was the last thing she needed at the moment. Her body shivered when she felt his strong arms wrap around her, giving him a small nod she studied him closely and accepted the tender kiss on her lips. “I love you too John” she whispered when the kiss broke, she smirked softly “and you just remind that bitch Loris to keep her hands off of you” she whispered to him knowing that if she ever saw Loris touch John, all hell would break loose and it was not going to be a pretty sight. “I promise to make sure Klaus does not touch me, and you better be on time for tonight with your brother. It’ll probably be difficult to convince him, but if he’s willing to hear us out then maybe we can help him as well if there’s anything to help him with. After all, everyone is after something in their life and nothing is free.” She muttered softly. She placed a soft kiss on his cheeks before slipping out of his grip “See you tonight, John.” She said and with that she headed out of the store, going into the food court to meet up with Klaus and talk things over. She was trying to get more information but he was stubborn and would not let her know what was happening; not yet anyways.
It was not long before they headed to her place, dinner was almost ready. Izabelle was upstairs finishing up her homework while listening to some music that a fellow classmate had given her; it seemed she had an admirer. Claire; the mother, welcomed Klaus and her daughter into the house with open arms. “Klaus it’s so nice to see you again, be a dear Katherine and go grab some bags from the basement” she said softly. Klaus of course was more than happy to help get dinner ready, Claire and Klaus talked for a good ten minutes before dinner was ready and everyone was sitting at the table. Katherine sat beside Klaus and sipped away at her glass of blood, she was starving. She noticed the look her mother was giving her and Klaus but she made no sense of it until her mother started to talk.
“Well, Klaus has explained everything… and I’m actually very surprised that Alek was treating you that badly... we want you to be happy Katerina. Klaus has explained that he will be taking you to his house for a while to get use to each other. Your father and I are going on vacation in a few days and Klaus is trustworthy… So me, your father and Klaus have been speaking for a little bit now and we’ve decided that instead of having Alek as your husband…” the mother spoke softly as she glanced at Klaus, she could see Izabelle’s shocked expression on her face but that did not matter. At this time, dinner was almost over.

Klaus cleared his throat gently “So instead of Alek….I’ve asked for your hand in marriage, I’ve been trying to track you down for over 400 years now and I want to treat you with the respect you deserve, so Katerina Petrova…. Will you marry me?” he asked as he got out of his chair and got down on one knee with a small black box in his hands. He opened it up and let her look at the expensive ring, it was quite beautiful; only to match her. Katherine could feel her heart sink as she looked stunned, she had never expected this from Klaus “Oh my god” she whispered as she stared at him with complete shock. Klaus chuckled softly “Yes, I know. Big ring” he muttered hoping she would catch on to his plan. Katherine finally clued in and she nodded softly “You’re spoiling me” she whispered as she put the engagement ring on. Klaus shrugged lightly “Let’s get your bags packed so I can settle you into your new home” he muttered softly as he then led her upstairs to her room, he helped her pack up her things till the room was all cleaned.

"Your blood??" John frowned. The meeting hadn't even started and already John was having second thoughts. Too much could go wrong. He felt like Katherine allowed herself to be blinded due the desperate nature of their situation. "No..I dont like this.." John growled. Something just didn't feel right and John's gut feelings tended to be spot on most of the time.

His brown eyes gazed up at Katherine when she brought up Loris. John returned her gaze with a long glare. However, when Katherine realized how angry she had become, John closed his eyes and took a moment to allow himself to calm down. Now wasn't the time for them to be fighting each other. They needed to stay united. 

"Fine.." John finally muttered. He walked over towards Katherine and wrapped his arms tightly around her body. "I see you tonight then. School should be about over. I'll grab Rob and talk to him privately." John whispered. "I love you Katherine." he added and leaned in to place a tender kiss on her lips. "Just...remind Klaus to keep his hands off you. If I smell his scent on you...I cant promise how I'll react." John explained softly. He wasn't trying to stir up trouble, but it was the honest truth. "One way..or another..Rob and I will be at the cabin on time. Make sure that Klaus lets us in. I would hate to have to grab a tree and chuck it through a window just to get in." John smiled, tho he was half serious.

Katherine was a bit surprised by John’s reaction but she was glad that Klaus had left to go eat in the food court, she glanced at John when she was questioned on if she knew anything about what Klaus really wanted. She knew the answer quite well but she wondered if she should tell John, she did not want a war to break out but she could feel the tension that was already placed there between everyone. “He has hinted a bit…” she whispered as she fell silent for a moment till she heard John’s next words. She tilted her head slightly.

 “I know you don’t like him, but right now we need his help John… and we need your brother’s help as well. I also don’t like Loris. So the next time I see her little muddy paws over you, there will be hell to pay. I’m not putting up with that John; you have my word, I hope you understand that.” She hissed slightly at the end but she relaxed when she noticed how fast she had become angry. She blinked and looked a bit surprised with herself but she looked away from John as if she was ashamed to hiss at him. “Klaus said he needs my blood, but he has not told me why yet or how much of it he needs.  I’m sure he’ll explain everything tonight though John, I would not worry about it too much right now. I just want to enjoy this time” she muttered softly.

 she leaned against a wall and glanced back at John. “He also needs a book that I have… I’m the only one that can retrieve it because I’m the only one who knows where it is… it’s a very special book John. It was my friend Emily’s but a few years ago, she was murdered by the town’s people. Emily and I were very close, she did a favour for Klaus a while back but she never told me about their deal. She only told me where the book was, and to keep it safe.” She whispered as she wondered just what Klaus was planning but she shook her head “We will figure this all out tonight” she muttered softly as she became more relaxed.

"ooooh I cant wait." John laughed softly. He was really looking forward to spending more time with her. Actually, now that he thought about it, if they were going to have a kid John would need to find work wherever they ended up. "I wonder what the kid will look like.." John thought to himself. He hoped foremost that the child would be healthy. Second, he hoped that the child would be able to blend in among humans. Life would be hell if the kid couldn't.

When Katherine handed his shirt, John rolled his eyes a bit. "Oh haha." he smiled. He was about to slid his shirt on when he heard her reference the scars on his back. "They'll heal in a few days or so." John replied softly. He really wasn't worried. Loris had left worse..much worse on his body.
