When they arrive here, they all thought that it would be the start of a better life. Many were lured to the city with promises of being the master's of their own craft. However, some ones got to be at the bottom doing the grunt work.
Rapture used to be so beautiful. An entire city under the water. It was certainly a sight to behold. It was said that there were 'No gods, only men.'. Turned out that it was the main mask of the facade.
Sometimes, even the brilliant need someone to tell them when things have gone to far. In their early years they had discovered a slug. It was all due to an accident where a worker had been bitten. The worker had suffered from a crippling disability in the hand that rendered it unable to move. When he got bit, he found that he could move his hand for the first time in years. It was the wonder discovery of the century. The more experiments were done, the more we uncovered just how powerful they could go. Even rewriting whatever genetics you were given. As with everything, there was a bad side.
Without a firm hand telling them their boundries, it was only a matter of time before the wrong scientists came into the picture. Morality was thrown out the window. Those who were orphaned were the ones to pay the price. The 'Little Sisters', as they soon became known as. Their minds and bodies were twisted so much that they could hardly be considered human anymore. The scientists would say 'Sub-Human', an attempt to try and make it sound less horrible than what it was. The sheep would say 'Little Sister', a name they happily ate up to ignore the line that had been crossed. Those with any sense didn't both with the lines. They called it as they saw it, 'Frankenstein'.
The sole purpose was to recycle the drug which had come to be known as Adam. People had developed an addiction to it. It didn't become too much of a problem. As long as the Little Sisters did their job, the whole world kept turning.
What ever you'd believe in. God, science, nothing... There is one thing that everyone can agree on. Karma is real... A natural force that when something bad is going on, its a ticking time bomb. You can go on with you life for a long time, but when that bomb goes off, you'd better be ready.
Rapture was doomed the moment someone had the balls to cross the line of morality and when that bomb went off, no one was ready for the impact that it would of had. Three people battled for control of Rapture; it's founder Ryan, the shadow Fontaine, and the leader of the 'Family' Sofia Lamb. In the midst of battle the Little Sisters were being sacrificed left and right. Without them to recycle the Adam, everything went down the toilet.
Finally here we are. The three top dogs still battled over the decayed husk of a dying city. Only now the three had a common enemy, the Rebellion. Those who still grasped onto sanity when others had fallen to insanity and become Splicers. Those who wouldn't dance to their tune of pheromones. Yet that wasn't what brought attention to them. No it was when they started taking the Little Sisters. With some hard gene therapy they were able to undo some of the damage that had been done. The Little Sisters began aging again. This brought about the Rebellion's ace in the hole. Their monsters the 'Big Sisters'. While they were unable to do much to untangle the mess that was their genes, they were able to return the reins back to the girls. The ones thing that proved helpful was the connection with the other Little Sisters that they retained. Big Sister was just another figure to them that they trusted without question.
Wraith was one of those Big Sisters. She dashed through the market place as she scavenged supplies for the Rebellion. They were running low on food and medicine. Wraith suddenly froze as she heard something approaching behind her. She turned around to stare at a Little Sister and her Big Daddy. The little girl's eyes glowed freakishly as she stared back at Wraith whom's eyes were more dim but the same. For a tense moment they stared at each other. The Big Daddy, the Little Sister's sentinel did nothing. He view Wraith as another Little Sister as well.
Finally Wraith dashed away to search the wreckage of the marketplace. She had to be quick. Wraith was in Ryan's territory and the Rebellion wasn't the sole holder of a few monster's. No Ryan, Fontaine, and Sofia all caught on to the idea and created their own monsters.
As Wraith was finishing up with her collection her radio came to life as a hushed tone asked,"Are you done yet? Hurry up and get out of there!" Wraith growled and picked up her radio and responded in a whisper,"I'm almost done. There are a few stalls I want to check." A creak made her freeze before the voice on the other side said,
"You're not alone in there."
At this Wraith cursed under her breath and turned off her radio before ducking down behind the counter of the stall she was at. Her eyes locked at the shadows that played along the wall. She could see some men casually walking as if nothing was wrong, Ryan's Monsters. A splicer who no longer was under the crippling addiction to Adam but still had all the powers to go toe to toe with a Big Daddy. They still had the unstable alliance of the Splicers. Yet they had the appearance of how people looked before things turned to shit. They were tough and they traveled as a team. They had superior numbers. One was bad enough but without her sister's around Wraith stood no chance against the entire team.
As soon as she head their footsteps on the roof she began her familiar tatic. She had the low ground which meant there wasn't many lights around that would cast her shadow. If she silently made her way under them. She could slip out without them being the wiser.
So silently she crawled, staying crouched down as they slowly made their patrol looking for anyone who wasn't with team Ryan. Even as she followed their patrol as they made their way toward the exit she had to stay on alert. There were still the mindless Splicers around and even though the Splicers as a single unit weren't dumb enough to try and attack her, as a group they were desperate enough to fight. Besides a single Splicer running away wouldn't help keep her hidden either. Why would a Splicer run from a group of men whom they considered their own? The only ones the Splicers would run from was either a Big Daddy or a Big Sister.
(Anyone want to take it? As the story goes on it'll turn into a sort of Rivalmance between one of Ryan's 'Monsters' and Wraith)
